Saint George’s Day, a europeanwide celebration

In honour of Saint George’s Day celebration on the 23rd of April, here are the different celebrations around the Saint.

On the 23rd of April, countries from all around Europe celebrate Saint George‘s Day. The Saint is well known for his legend of being the brave knight who slew a dragon on his white horse in order to save a young maiden, but it is also the day Spring starts. Today still, countries ranging from Spain to Serbia celebrate through various rituals and,  festivities for their patron.
