Being an Erasmus student in Barcelona comes with many benefits such as the sunny weather, learning the Spanish culture and having many opportunities to easily travel to towns nearby via train etc. If you are looking and are interested in cheap places to travel to whilst staying in Barcelona, look no further. These cheap travel destinations will help you enjoy a nice trip away from the city at affordable prices so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank.

Salou

Salou is a great resort that is only approximately 1.5 hours on a train from Passeig de Gracia train station in Barcelona. It is located in the northeastern Costa Daurada in the province of Tarragona. The best part about Salou is the fabulous walk alongside the coast and the Llevant and Ponent strip. The train is a great affordable price of €8.80! Not only is it cheap, but it also has great coastal views for most of the journey. In terms of accommodation, the average price a night ranges between €55-60. It is definitely a trip worth taking as Portaventura World is nearby the main town as well.

Mallorca

Mallorca is located on the fabulous Balearic Islands. It is only a short 30minute flight from the main airport in Barcelona and it is easy to find great deals at affordable prices. It is famous for its beaches and pretty mountains. Palma is the capital of Mallorca and is well known for its buzzing nightlife. Palma is a perfect place for students who are interested in cheap nightlife in Mallorca. Cheap flights from €16 are often found which is hard to refuse especially when living on a student budget. Accommodation can be more expensive than other cheap places but you are making up for it with the low prices on flights.

Costa Brava

Costa Brava is a 1.5-hour drive from Barcelona city centre. It is located in north-eastern Spain in the Catalonia region. Travelling to Costa Brava can be relatively cheap if you travel there in a rented car with a great price of €50 per day! Many great hostels can be found in Costa Brava that average around €15 per night. Costa brava is a great place to travel to if you are interested in pretty, clean beaches and colourful authentic streets.

Only a 50-minute train ride from Barcelona lies Sitges. A perfect little town that is full of character and on a warm day, the best place to relax on the beach and then enjoy the nightlife it has to offer. A train journey won’t set you back more than €15 return making Sitges a must-do if you’re here in Barcelona.
