The month March has arrived and with it comes many must-watch movies! Sequels to long-lasting sagas, world-famous game adapted into the big screen and time travelling journeys are some of these films. Drama, action, adventure, thriller and much more awaits you. The likes of Michael B. Jordan, Jenna Ortega and Adam Driver will have you on the edge of your seat.

Out of all the movies, these are AulaNews’ top-5 must-watch movies of March 2023:

Creed III

Director: Michael B. Jordan

Starring: Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thomson and Jonathan Majors

Genre: Drama

Release date: 3rd of March

In Creed III, Adonis Creed, interpreted by Michael B. Jordan, is a boxer improving different aspects of his personal and professional life. That was until all of a sudden, one of his childhood friends, who is an ex boxer prodigy, comes out from prison and wants to fight and demonstrate who is the best in the ring. This friend called Damian Anderson doesn’t have anything to lose which makes him Creed’s toughest opponent yet.

Creed III, just like its predecessors as well as all the Rocky movies, brings one of the most popular sports in the world into the big screen and is bound to do yet another wonderful job at that. The fight scenes are expected to leave us shellshocked just like last time around. The story, which is notorious to be lackluster in sports films, is leaning towards generating enough drama to not rely solely on the fighting action. Expectations are at a high within the audience and we dutifully see Michael B. Jordan, who is even directing it for the first time in his career, fulfilling them. Even though it is the first movie in the universe without Sylvester Stallone, it is still the must-watch movie of March.

Scream VI

Directors: Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gliett

Starring: Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere

Genre: Thriller

Release date: 10th of March

The Scream saga is back with Scream VI in which Sidney Prescott, who is now a successful writer, returns to the place where she was born, Woodsbord, to promote her new self-help book. Alongside her arrival comes a new crime wave, including Ghostface’s killing of several students from the town institute. But this time things are different as his modus operandi has changed. Even so Prescott and other characters will try to catch the murderer once more.

Jenna Ortega comes into this movie on a high after her ecstatic performance in Wednesday and the whole public foresees her shining once more. Although it is the sixth entry of the saga, the concept has not run dry and repetitive. In fact, Scream VI has a major change: Ghostface didn’t kill the protagonist of Scream V, but rather chose to use her to lure more victims. This twist should be enough to get everyone thinking. Could she be involved with the killer? On top of that, the gore is said to be at an all time high and Scream fans will definitely be looking forward to that. Those should be enough reasons not to miss this film!

65

Directors: Scott Beck and Bryan Woods

Starring: Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt and Chloe Coleman

Genre: Science Fiction/Thriller

Release date: 24th of March

The pilot Mills, interpreted by Adam Driver, has a catastrophic crash. That accident causes him to travel back to Earth 65 millions years ago. The astronaut only has one chance to be rescued. He must cross with Koa, the other survivor, into a mysterious land full of dangerous prehistoric creatures.

Adam Driver has become a massive name in Hollywood in recent years and any movie with him is already exciting, so that’s one point for 65. Furthermore, all of our inner children love dinosaurs, so that’s another point for 65. The writers are the same as for the Quiet Place, so that’s yet another point for 65. To sum it up, it is ought to be a well-written movie starred by Adam Driver with dinosaurs. What else would be needed to make it a must-watch?

John Wick: Chapter 4

He will be persecuted and will have to push his skills to give the best of him and escape alive. Everyone loves Keanu Reeves and everything that he does. John Wick comes back for the fourth time and everyone is eager to see him again. So much so that this movie is not only a must-watch of March, but rather of the whole year. An action packed thriller filled with fighting scenes that even Reeves himself admitted it was exhausting to train and interpret. Will he succeed or will he fail? You must watch to find out.

Directors: John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein

Starring: Chris Pine, Regé-Jean Page and Michelle Rodriguez

Genre: Adventure

Release date: 31st of March

This movie is based on the role playing game Dungeons&Dragons. The crew is led by a charming thief that takes a band of adventurers in a plan to steal a lost relic. During their quest, they meet a bad bunch of people. The journey will be more complex and dangerous than first imagined. The worse evil the world has ever known has been unleashed…

For those of us who are geeks and massive fans of D&D, we are extremely excited to watch. The experience will obviously be different to those adventures we had of our own, but undoubtedly it will exceptionally exhilarating. The journey that the crew will embark will get those long-term fans and newcomers alike thrilled to watch and join the rogue, the bard, the paladin, the sorcerer and the barbarian. Might not be a movie for all, but for those that it is, it is a must-watch!
